2008 Breast Show Ever, MW Studio, NY
Special thanks to Meghan Walsh for the use of an amazing Tribeca NYC gallery MWstudioNYC (373 Broadway) in Tribeca, New York, from October 2 – 19, 2008.
The circular 2008 Breast Show Ever was in Tribeca, NYC at MW studio. 88 Women born from all over the United States of America and a few countries all agreed to get breast cast to visually represent the scientific data or math statistic that one and 8 women can get breast cancer in the USA every year.
The 88 women born all over the USA who were cast by artist Stephanie Smelser (Engstrom) either were impacted directly with breast cancer or someone they knew close to their heart was impacted by breast cancer so they all supported breast cancer to help raise 30k to Susan G. Komen. Thanks again to all the people who made this breast cancer awareness installation show possible!! Especially Meghan Walsh.
Thank you Andrew Levy from WISH you WERE HERE productions for all the Yankee signed baseballs!!!
Stephanie plans to host another Breast cancer event again soon this said if you wish to join her, feel free to contact her otherwise Susan G Komen will receive her again.
Over a decade of this artist’s life, Stephanie created a home on the UES (upper east side) of NYC yet her roots pulled her return back to the New Haven Connecticut area.
Stephanie has a deep appreciation for the endless memories, and forever friendships, and is eternally grateful to NYC. The most lasting and forever gratitude is for keeping her children’s father safe after 9/11. This deep appreciation is woven tightly into her DNA. Smelser has seen her fair share of trials, trauma, and tough heartache; she currently chooses to walk with grace, peace, and courage while respecting God’s plan.
